Family Emergency Preparedness Institute

Helping Alberta Families Prepare Before Emergencies Happen

The Family Emergency Preparedness Institute is an e-learning platform dedicated to helping families, households, caregivers, and communities build practical emergency preparedness skills.

Emergencies can happen with little or no warning. Wildfires, floods, severe storms, extreme cold, power outages, evacuations, public health disruptions, and other hazards can affect families across Alberta. While emergency services and governments play an important role during a crisis, household preparedness begins at home.

Our mission is to make emergency preparedness simple, accessible, and practical for everyday families.

Through easy-to-follow online courses, guides, checklists, and preparedness tools, the Family Emergency Preparedness Institute helps families understand local risks, create emergency plans, build emergency kits, prepare for evacuation, communicate during disruptions, and recover with confidence after an emergency.
